“Weird Al” Yankovic surprise-released a brand new album on Friday, marking his first full-length effort in additional than eight years.
The file, which arrives because the soundtrack for his newly-released biopic, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, starring Daniel Radcliffe, consists of 46 songs. On Twitter, Yankovic explained that the album consists of “a bunch of early Bizarre Al songs I re-recorded specifically for the film, my brand-new closing credit track ‘Now You Know,’ and all the orchestral rating.”
WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story was directed and co-written by Eric Appel, with co-production from Humorous or Die and Tango. Notably, Yankovic himself performed a task in writing and producing the challenge. Together with Radcliffe, the movie stars Evan Rachel Wooden and Rainn Wilson.
“The biopic holds nothing again, exploring each side of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like Eat It and Like a Surgeon to his torrid movie star amorous affairs and famously wicked way of life,” the official synopsis from Roku reads. “WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a really unbelievable journey by Yankovic’s life and profession, from gifted youngster prodigy to the best musical legend of all time.”
