NASHVILLE – For the second season in a row, Center Area foes Lipscomb Academy and Christ Presbyterian Academy battled for the Division II-AA state soccer championship.
The Mustangs took the title this season and picked up three area awards led by MVP and DII-AA Mr. Soccer Alex Broome.
The 5-foot-8, 186-pound Boston School signee, shined as a senior speeding 186 occasions for 1,395 yards and 29 touchdowns. He additionally caught 68 passes for 808 yards and 12 extra scores for the state champs.
Teammate Luther Richesson, the Mustangs’ quarterback, was named the Offensive Participant of the 12 months after throwing for slightly below 3,000 yards with 39 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. Defensive standout Sam Rousch of Lipscomb Academy shared the Defensive Participant of the 12 months award with CPA’s Langston Patterson.
In all, 14 Mustangs earned All-Area First Workforce honors with eight first crew spots going to CPA. Battle Floor Academy produced three first-teamers.
