The weekend begins with The Legends Lunch that includes philanthropist, inspirational speaker, and legendary Olympian Dr. John W. Carlos and Bermuda’s personal Clyde C. Finest MBE, a global soccer trailblazer who was one of many first Black males to play First Division Soccer in England. Hazel Clark, three-time Olympian and BTA Director of Enterprise Growth, will host an intimate hearth chat with the 2 icons of sports activities activism on the Ocean View Golf Course. The picture of John Carlos on the Olympic podium, black-fisted and shoe-less standing towards poverty and demanding equitable remedy for all represents a historic second within the dialog round sports activities activism for range, fairness, and inclusion. Attendees will get a front-row seat to the dynamic dialog. Sponsor tables can be found.
Hazel Clark stated, “We stay up for welcoming the powerhouse Olympian and civil rights legend to the island and are excited to have him be part of my panel alongside Bermuda’s personal Clyde Finest. Their views on driving range in sport are extremely sought-after, and we’re grateful to have him be part of us. Golf is without doubt one of the pillars of Bermuda’s tourism product, and we’re delighted to wield our affect to showcase worldwide alternatives to strengthen the game, broaden accessibility and recognise pioneers within the sport’s range.”
Charles H. Jeffers II of the BTA stated, “Bermuda continues to determine itself as a number one sports activities tourism vacation spot demonstrated by our success internet hosting world-class crusing, triathlon and golf occasions. The Black Golfers Week Preview comes on the heels of the island’s third PGA Tour occasion, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. This preview occasion builds on our sports activities tourism experience, including a socially aware layer that might be a primary on this planet of golf. The timing is correct, and Bermuda’s wealthy Black golf legacy positions us to ship main, long-lasting influence for the game.”
The weekend will embrace personal golf classes for novices and a Tea on the Tee Blissful Hour at Ocean View Golf Course. The weekend wraps with the inaugural Louis Rafael Child Corbin Golf Event on Saturday, November 6.
