Alexandrians Noah Lyles and Troy Isley are Olympians.
Lyles and Isley, each graduates of T.C. Williams Excessive Faculty, now referred to as Alexandria Metropolis Excessive Faculty, earned spots on the U.S. Olympic crew after competing within the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon and Lake Charles, Louisiana, respectively and can take part within the Tokyo Olympics, which start July 23 and run by way of Aug. 8.
Monitor and area star Lyles, a 2016 T.C. alum, will compete within the males’s 200-meter race after profitable the U.S. Olympic Trials for that distance on Sunday. He may even run a leg of the U.S. males’s 4 x 100 meter relay race.
Isley, 22, is a middleweight boxer who has educated for years with the Alexandria Boxing Membership, which operates out of the Charles Houston Recreation Middle in Alexandria’s Parker-Grey neighborhood. Isley is attempting to develop into the primary U.S. boxer to achieve an Olympic medal in his weight class since 2004.
Lyles, who’s listed as 5’-11” and 154 kilos on the Staff USA web site, gained gold medals for the U.S. within the 2019 World Championship within the 200-meter and 4 x 100 races. Isley weighs 165 kilos and competes within the 75 kg weight class. He completed third within the 2017 Elite World Championships and is 2-0 as an expert boxer.
