Free agent edge rusher Melvin Ingram’s one-year contract with the Steelers is for $4 million, in line with a report by Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports activities.
Ingram, 32, earned $14 million and he counted for $16.6 million towards the Los Angeles Chargers’ wage cap in 2020.
The Steelers have but to formally announce the signing, which was first reported on Monday by Ian Rapoport of NFL Community. The workforce might want to launch a participant to make room for Ingram on the 90-man roster.
Although introduced as a one-year deal, it’s potential that the Steelers structured the contract of Ingram’s with voidable years, as they did with Eric Ebron, Joe Haden, Ben Roethlisberger and JuJu Smith-Schuster this offseason, with a view to push a few of the cap hit of Ingram’s signing into the 2022 season.
