Handcrafted furniture manufacturer pledges to keep sustainability at heart of business

Off The Grain is a sustainable, artisan furnishings maker, creating handmade furnishings and décor for the house, instantly from its workshop in West Vale.

Established in 2018, by former PE instructor Dominic Walsh, Off The Grain was born out of the straightforward perception that there’s one thing particular about proudly owning a product that has been made by hand.

It’s this philosophy that underpins every product that leaves the workshop.

Client demand for extra accountable merchandise is clearer than ever, and sustainability is on the coronary heart of Off The Grain’s enterprise ethos. All of the timber and packaging used is responsibly sourced, sustainable and recyclable.

Alongside its pledge to sustainability, Off The Grain has recorded a 710 per cent enhance in income throughout 2020 and has not too long ago doubled its workshop house, relocating to a formidable new 6,000 sq ft location in West Vale, Halifax. Plans for additional growth, with the opening of a 3,000 sq ft luxurious showroom, are already underway.

Commenting on the enterprise’ dedication to sustainability, founder Dominic Walsh stated: “Off The Grain began out as a private passion and a real ardour for furnishings making, and

since launching in 2018 sustainability has at all times been on the coronary heart of this.

“We’ve got researched and applied methods to make sure that we’re working as sustainably as doable. All our timber, reduce offs and sawdust is utilised indirectly to cut back our waste and our packaging is all 100% recyclable. Each member of the staff is dedicated to enhancing our sustainability ambitions and we are going to proceed this into 2021.”
