Monaco, April 10 (IANS) India’s Sumit Nagal might be up towards a troublesome participant when he takes on Italy’s Stefano Travaglia within the Monte Carlo Rolex Masters Qualifiers (Spherical 1) match on Saturday.
The match, headlined by the likes of Spain’s Rafael Nadal — who will open his 2021 clay-court marketing campaign in Monte Carlo — and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic (winner in 2013 & 2015), may even see the likes of Italy’s Fabio Fognini, Russian Daniil Medvedev, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas and Germany’s Alexander Zverev competing for the prized trophy within the ATP Masters 1000 match.
For the Haryana-born Nagal, the match is a chance to indicate that the first-round loss within the ATP 250 Sardegna Open in Cagliari, Italy earlier this week was an aberration.
The 136th-ranked Nagal had misplaced to Slovakian qualifier Jozef Kovalik 6-3, 1-6, 3-6 after getting into the primary draw filled with confidence after successful two qualifying rounds.
The match towards Travaglia is not going to be a cakewalk because the 29-year-old Italian had reached the French Open third spherical final 12 months and was as soon as ranked No. 70 within the ATP.
