Joe Douglas desires you to know: He doesn’t care.
The Jets shipped quarterback Sam Darnold south to the Panthers on April 5, leaving New York positioned to take a QB at No. 2 within the 2021 NFL Draft.

“I root for good individuals, and that dude’s a very good man, and he’s gonna do good issues. I consider that.”

Douglas appears to have a deal with on the scenario with the Jets and his reasoning for buying and selling Darnold is sound: The USC product is getting into his fourth season with a workforce that is getting into 12 months 2 of a complete (seemingly endless) rebuild.
Together with his fifth-year choice and a possible contract extension looming, the Jets lower bait and, in Douglas’ personal admission, wished to reset the QB contract scenario. In return, they obtained a 2022 second-round decide, a 2022 fourth-round decide and a 2021 sixth-rounder. That is a very good return when many believed the Jets could be shifting on from Darnold.
At No. 2 within the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jets are extensively anticipated to pick out BYU quarterback Zach Wilson.
And Douglas will most definitely give a least half a crap about Wilson’s success.
