Earlier this month, dozens of district companions and group sustainability stakeholders joined Boulder Valley College District employees for a sustainability summit to launch our group engagement work to replace our Sustainability Management System (SMS).
BVSD has been working with the Green Schools National Network (GSNN) to collect information to evaluate progress towards the objectives on our present SMS and develop a plan to replace it for the subsequent 5 years. Within the coming weeks, GSNN and BVSD will interact with focus teams to establish objectives and alternatives for the District’s subsequent five-year SMS Motion Plan. In June, employees will share the up to date SMS Motion Plan with the board, together with a five-year progress report.
The SMS has guided the District’s work round sustainability for the previous 10 years and been integral within the progress the District has made towards turning into a frontrunner in environmental sustainability and creating wholesome studying environments whereas offering college students abilities to deal with systemic challenges.
GSNN brings deep expertise to the desk of their work with faculties and districts throughout the nation. These faculties are leveraging sustainability to drive innovation that: Decreases operational prices and ecological footprint; improves the well being and well-being of all who work, be taught and play in these faculties; and closes the achievement hole whereas graduating college students who’ve foundational information and abilities to co-create a sustainable future.
