March 9 (UPI) — Even Patrick Mahomes was impressed by a current dwelling run hit by Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. in spring coaching. The NFL star — and Royals minority proprietor — celebrated the longball on Twitter.
Witt’s 484-foot blast got here within the fourth inning of the Royals’ 10-3 win over the Oakland Athletics on Monday in Shock, Ariz.
The Royals led 5-1 coming into the underside of the fourth inning. Nicky Lopez introduced in a sixth run with an RBI groundout. Whit Merrifield adopted with an RBI double to left discipline. Witt then stepped into the field to face Athletics pitcher Yusmeiro Petit.

Mahomes tweeted three rocket ship emojis and Witt’s Twitter deal with — together with a video of the homer — Monday on Twitter.
Witt’s blast traveled 109 mph because it left the sphere, based on Statcast.
Salvador Perez hit one other dwelling run for the Royals two at-bats after Witt’s wallop. The Athletics scored the ultimate two runs of the sport on a Francisco Pena two-run homer within the prime of the sixth body.
Witt — the Royals’ prime prospect and the No. 7 prospect in baseball — went 1 for two within the victory. He’s now hitting .353 with two dwelling runs and 6 RBIs this spring.

“I feel really comfortable and that is the place I am alleged to be proper now,” Witt instructed reporters Sunday. “I am simply having a number of enjoyable.”
Witt hit .262 with a house run and 27 RBIs in 37 rookie league video games in 2019.
Mahomes, 25, bought a portion of the Royals in July, the identical month he signed a file 10-year, $504 million contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes’ father — Patrick Sr. — performed 11 seasons on the MLB stage.
