CSUN Alumni Panel to Explore the Business of Sustainability

Three California State College, Northridge alumni will share their experiences working within the discipline of sustainability as they launch this semester’s digital Distinguished Speaker Collection hosted by CSUN’s David Nazarian College of Business and Economics on Wednesday, March 24, on-line through Zoom.

The three will talk about how they constructed profitable and numerous careers in sustainability and the way their work is main innovation in renewable power, carbon reductions, and knowledge and expertise to attain decarbonization.

“Sustainability has been a subject on the forefront of politics and at CSUN for years,” stated Chandra Subramaniam, dean of the Nazarian College. “Sustainability acknowledges the roles of social, environmental and financial dimensions in delivering long-term prosperity. As a school of enterprise, it will be important for our college students to grasp how sustainability will change the best way companies function and the way we relate to it in the best way we dwell and work.”

The panelists embody Daybreak James, director of U.S. Sustainability and Environmental Sciences at Microsoft and a 2003 graduate of CSUN with a Grasp of Science Diploma in Geology; entrepreneur Paul Jennings, who graduated from CSUN in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising, founder and CEO of PCS Vitality, a Los Angeles-centric renewable power firm, and an investor of renewable power startups; and Kam Mahdi, who graduated from CSUN in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, co-founder and CEO of Clear Vitality Applied sciences, Inc., a global clean-energy firm that designs, builds and markets clean-energy merchandise.

The webinar’s moderator is scheduled to be Mary Nichols, former chair of the California Air Assets Board, who will share coverage and regulatory insights into what’s driving the transformation of clean-energy markets across the globe.

Among the many subjects the panelists are anticipated to debate are their profession paths, the intersection between enterprise and sustainability, and the way they imagine the pandemic has impacted or modified the business.
