It is the newest incarnation of the Mirage Studios indie comedian Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched in 1984 from creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Initially a spoof of then-popular themes in ’80s comics — ninjas, anthropomorphic animals, mutants and teenage superheroes — the TMNT grew right into a media franchise that spanned comedian books, animated cartoons, live-action motion pictures, video video games, toys and a comic book strip. Their final earlier movie outing was 2019’s Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was a collaboration between Nickelodeon, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Leisure.
